16-year-old County Durham racer Charlie Farrer will be riding for the very experienced Banks Racing Team in 2019.

The team have decided to focus on the standard class following Ed Rendell’s retirement. The ex-Maverick Viñales Moto3 machine used by Rendell has been sold to help fund this years racing.

Farrer’s entry into the Motostar standard class should aid him in the British Talent Cup. The series run by Dorna Sports as part of their Road to MotoGP programme. Both championships use very similar Honda NSF250R machines.

At the end of 2018, in which Farrer had a strong finish to the season, he was invited back to compete in 2019.

Apart from riding in the British Talent Cup last season, Farrer competed in the BSB National Superstock 600 class.

The team hope to announce a second rider in the not too distant future.
