Entries to the CEV Repsol European Talent Cup have got to such a level that to accommodate all the riders the championship organisers have decided to split the class.
There have been times in recent years, where for example, entries to the final round in Valencia have necessitated two qualifying groups. Those that didn’t make the grid were then given a Last Chance race, with the first two being added to the race grid on the Sunday. The remainder were left out of the rest of the event.
New format for 2019
From this season there will be two practice groups at each race to accommodate the sixty riders confirmed so far this season. Those that fail to qualify for the main race(s) will not compete in a last chance race as on previous occasions. They will instead take part in a new Series 2 race within the European Talent Cup.
FIM CEV Repsol believe that this gives young talent the opportunity to develop in a top-quality championship. Riders that do not qualify for the main event will be able to gain experience of a very competitive championship.
