Round three of the British Superbike Championship will take place at Donington Park this weekend.
Andover’s Jake Archer will be competing in the British GP2 (Moto2) category with two races over the weekend. On Saturday there is a 20 lap race at 17:00, followed by the 24 lap feature race on Sunday at 15:40. Qualifying for the first race will be at 11:05 on the Saturday, with Sunday’s grid positions calculated from the fastest lap times of the riders in race one.
Although they race alongside the British Supersport class they score points in their own championship. Since winning the Moto3 title last year Archer has been making steady progress after deciding to move up to the Moto2 class for 2019. He goes into the weekend fifth in the standings after four races.
The riders will use the 1.957 mile (3.149 km) National Circuit at this event. This track follows the main Grand Prix circuit through Redgate, the Old Hairpin and Coppice before a quick right then left at Roberts and onto the start-finish straight, rather than heading down to the Foggy Esses and the Melbourne Hairpin.
The Kovara Projects by RS Racing rider finished seventh in the first race at Oulton Park in the last round. He then went on to follow that up with a 6th place in a shortened feature race after a red flag incident.
” I’m looking forward to getting back on the Moto2 at Donington. It will be interesting to race on the National circuit as we usually use the full GP circuit but I am sure we can adapt pretty quickly. This season is all about learning to change my style to ride the Moto2 machine and we should see results progressing as the year goes on.”
