Scott Ogden (Premium Motorhomes Scott Ogden Racing) took victory by 13 seconds over Cameron Horsman (Nova Racing/SP125) in race 1 of the standard class at Brands Hatch. Charlie Farrer (Banks Racing) finished just 0.055 seconds behind Horsman to take third place.
Having qualified as the fastest standard (1:36.900) class rider Ogden made no mistake when the race started. He led the class from start to finish, his fastest lap 0.728 seconds quicker than championship rival Cameron Horsman.
Charlie Farrer initially got the better start over Horsman. The number 71 moving into seocnd position on the opening lap. They continued to battle throughout the 12 lap race changing positions but in the end Horsman managed to take second place after 12 laps. Farrer was just 0.065 seconds behind the rider from London.
Rhys Irwin took fourth position. The Irish youngster finished less than a second further back. Completing the top five was Franco Bourne.
Despite suffering problems with her bike and an injury to her hand on Friday, Abbz Thomas did well to qualify in tenth in the morning. She went on to finish ninth in the first race of the weekend.
Ogden (70) now goes into Sunday’s race with a five point lead over Horsman (65). Farrer is third on 48 points.
