Eugene McManus Junior was involved in a crash in the qualifying session of round four of the British Supersport championship at Brands Hatch on Saturday 15th June. Going down from Paddock Hill Bend and on towards Druids he came off his Yamaha R6. Unfortunately, Eugene was hit by another rider who had no chance of avoiding him.

Initially treated at the medical centre at the track Eugene McManus was transferred to the Royal College Hospital in London with leg, hip and some internal injuries. The family announced an update via the E15 Racing Facebook Page:

Eugene McManus Junior is continuing his treatment in the Royal College Hospital in London. The medical professionals are doing a fantastic job of looking after him. He is now stable and comfortable and is due to go for an operation tomorrow. Eugene will then likely have a further operation in a week’s time on his hip and leg.

The McManus family have been overwhelmed by the number of people who have sent best wishes and are following Eugene on Facebook. The support has been amazing. There have also been a number of very well-known riders, who would probably prefer not to be mentioned, that have been fantastic help since the accident.

The family would like to wish Ryan Vickers the best of luck. He left hospital today, and although it was an unfortunate way to get to know him and his family, they too have been very understanding and the McManus family wish him a speedy recovery.

Finally, a big thank you to Arai Helmets and Dainese Clothing for the protection their safety gear gave Eugene in the accident.
