Yuki Kunii converted his pole position into his second race victory in the Moto3 JWC and his first of 2019. After Deniz Öncü suffered a technical problem he had a comfortable victory winning by 8.342 seconds. Second across the line was Jeremy Alcoba beating Davide Pizzoli by 0.027 seconds. Daniel Holgado (Junior Talent Estrella Galicia) competing in his maiden Moto3 JWC race finished an impressive fourth beating Xavier Artigas (Leopard Impala Junior Team) who crossed the finish line in fifth.
Japanese rider Yuki Kunii (Asia Talent Team) started on pole position with Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo) second. Also on the front row was Jeremy Alcoba (LaGlisse Academy). British rider Max Cook (British Talent Team) started 22nd.
Öncü made the best start leading through turn one followed by Kunii and Ryussei Yamanaka (Junior Team Estrella Galicia) Alcoba dropped to fourth.
Öncü and Kunii quickly opened up a gap at the front of the race with the second group made up of Alcoba, Nepa, Pizzoli, Holgado, Artigas and Yamanaka.
Unfortunately for the Turkish rider, he suffered a technical problem on his bike with just five laps remaining. He was shadowing Yuki Kunii and was very much in with a chance of the race victory. He cut a frustrated figure and he knelt on the tarmac after parking up his KTM.
This left Kunii with a comfortable lead and probably one of the easiest race victories he will experience in his racing career.
Behind the Japanese rider there was the battle for the remaining two podium positions. Alcoba out dragged Pizzoli to the finish line. The Italian had to settle for third. Daniel Holgado finished just 0.067 seconds off the podium in his first Moto3 JWC race.
Max Cook battled through to pick up the final championship point finishing 15th.
