Brandon Paasch (FPW Racing) took first day honours in the British Motostar free practice sessions today for the GP class.

The Americanrider finished the day with a lap time of 1:45.641. This was 0.106 seconds quicker than long time session leader Dan Jones (City Lifting). Asher Durham finished third quickest on the (Microlise Cresswell Racing) Mahindra 1.170 seconds behind Paasch.

Scott Swann (IFS Team Swann Racing) moved up the leaderboard at the end of the session to end day one with the fourth fastest time 0.180 further back from Durham whilst Jack Nixon (Santander Salt) completed the top five. Last year’s British Motostar standard class winner Victor Rodriguez (GA Competition) was 7th as he starts to get used to the DR Moto machine.

In the standard class, Scott Ogden (Premium Motorhomes / Scott Ogden Racing) took the top spot finishing with a 1:49.248. However, he only managed 7 laps in FP2 after a crash at Cascades with around ten minutes remaining. He was taken to the medical centre as a precaution but was uninjured. Second quickest was British Talent Cup opening weekend race winner Cameron Horsman (SP125/Nova), just 0.077 seconds back from Ogden.

Charlie Farrer, the Banks racing rider, is here under his (and his Dad’s) own steam this weekend as Pete Banks is unfortunately unwell. Despite the setback, he came through late on to take third position.  Although he took a tumble in FP1 Rhys Irwin (Ready 4 Racing) was fourth fastest in FP2 posting a lap time of 1:50.806. Harvey Claridge (Nova Racing) completed the top five.

Brian Hart (GA Competition) fell at Cascades at the end of the second session as he tried to improve on his time of 1:52.887. He had missed FP1 after the schedule was changed by an hour. The team had already embarked on some changes to his bike and there wasn’t time to get it back together to be ready for the amended schedule.
